First Nation Administrative Support

LITIGATION/MEDIATION/ARBITRATION/ADR
Sometimes there is a need to use the courts to settle a matter. Our lawyers have appeared before various levels of courts and other adjudication bodies. While we always strive to address our clients’ interests without using the courts, we are quite comfortable recommending the use of litigation, mediation, or arbitration when necessary.

EMPLOYMENT LAW
In addition to practical advice and experience in litigating employment law matters, EAGLE LAW GROUP can also help First Nations address other matters such as drafting employment agreements, developing policies and procedures manuals relating to employment, and advising First Nations of their roles and responsibilities as employers.

Aboriginal Law

LAND CLAIMS/SPECIFIC CLAIMS
We have a broad range of experience in assisting First Nations to prepare, negotiate and settle Specific Claims with both Federal and Provincial Governments. We act for several First Nations with major claims, including claims that are well beyond the $150 Million cap for the Specific Claims Tribunal. We are very familiar with the Specific Claims Tribunal process.

ABORIGINAL AND TREATY RIGHTS
Eagle Law Group has extensive practical experience to assist First Nations and First Nations individuals where Aboriginal and Treaty rights are at issue.

TREATY AND SELF GOVERNMENT NEGOTIATIONS
Our lawyers have worked on Treaty and Self-Government negotiations in BC and Yukon, and have worked with several First Nations in a post-modern Treaty context.

CONSULTATION AND ACCOMODATION (PROJECT SPECIFIC)

We can also help with negotiating and drafting agreements with industry and various levels of government (federal, provincial and municipal). Recent work includes consultation and accommodation on proposed pipelines, highway twinning through traditional territory, and mining projects.

In light of Canada’s recent ratification of the UN Declaration on the of Indigenous Peoples Rights of Indigenous Peoples, First Nations now have recognized International Rights. Our lawyers have experience assisting First Nations in the International law arena.
